Providence Baptist Church

Providence Baptist Church is a Reformed and Southern Baptist Church committed to the Bible as God's inspired Word and the sole authority for what Christians believe and how they should live. We understand Biblical Christianity to be best expressed in terms of the doctrines of grace. Though these precious doctrines were held by our Southern Baptist forefathers, adhering to them makes us distinctively different from most Southern Baptist churches today. We affirm the Deity and humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the complete sufficiency of His atoning work for His own, the effectiveness of His intercession for His people, His present exaltation at the right hand of God, the Father, and His absolute power to keep and preserve all who call upon Him in truth. We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. We also affirm the need for personal holiness and purity of life among all those who profess to belong to Him. We believe the local church should be central in the Christian's life. Christians need each other and they need a good local church to instruct, counsel, and if need be, to correct them. We also believe the church should be a spiritual family which cares about the spiritual welfare of its members. Becoming a member is a commitment to the Lord and to each other that should not be lightly undertaken. We are committed to certain priorities intended to promote true biblical doctrine and personal daily devotion to the Lord in our lives. These priorities are centered around a true and proper worship of God, including an emphasis on the preaching of God's Word; a prevailing attitude of prayer for God's will to be done in and through us; a relentless pursuit of personal holiness; the achievement of biblical priorities in our families; all of which should result in a recovery and fervent proclamation of the gospel to those outside of Christ.
