New Beginnings Baptist Church

New Beginnings Baptist Church is a relatively new church plant (constituted in March of 2021) who meets in Oak Grove Kentucky. We are currently renting a space from First Baptist Church of Oak Grove and have been in this location for over a year. I noticed under the church search map that Covenant Baptist church is listed under this address (480 Thompsonville Ln) but have since moved to a new location (150 Wallace Blvd, Clarksville TN) according to their website. New Beginnings Baptist Church is affiliated with the Kentucky Baptist Convention and Southern Baptist Convention. Our sending church is Living Hope Baptist Church of Hopkinsville Kentucky who is also a nine-marks church. New Beginnings is a small congregation (a total of nine members with an average Sunday attendance of around 25-30). We believe in expositional preaching primarily by preaching through individual books of the Bible. We also believe in qualified leadership according to the qualifications of 1 Timothy. Currently we are led by myself (Jake Davidson) who is an MDiv graduate of Gateway Seminary (Dec 2022). We believe that God uses the proclamation of the gospel to bring people to saving faith (Rom 1:16). A large part of our ministry is door-to-door evangelism in our military community with primacy on gospel centered conversations. We also strive to present clear teaching and practice of what biblical membership looks like and what biblical salvation consists of (2 Cor 5:17). This is demonstrated by practicing meaningful membership that only allows members to join after presenting a creditable testimony to leadership and then before the entire congregation. Potential members and professing believers are also interviewed and required to have a credible testimony or at least some fruit of repentance before being baptized. Those who are recommended for church membership are then held to a certain level of accountability as explained in our church covenant and strongly encouraged to be discipled. Our discipleship program is a one-on-one model that lasts anywhere from seven weeks to sixteen weeks designed to promote spiritual growth and understanding. Members who fall into patterns of sinful behavior or demonstrate repeated disruptions to church fellowship are subject to church discipline and removed from church membership if they remain unrepentant. Prayer is also a vital part of our ministry. Beginning Jan of 2023, there has been a corporate weekly prayer meeting (every Tuesday) that is now coupled with a day of fasting. This ministry has moved to bi-weekly prayer meeting and fasting beginning in the middle of 2024. We believe our calling to this location is to make disciples of the military community. We also believe that by being placed on 9marks church locator map will make us more visible to new soldiers in that move to our community who are looking for a gospel centered ministry and provide opportunities for the gospel to reach many others.
