Our elders have all been to the 9Marks weekender at Capitol Hill Baptist Church and are striving to lead GCBC as a healthy church. The glory of God is the supreme and central focus of what we are about here as we strive to exalt our Sovereign Lord and His sufficient Word for the joy of all peoples. We seek to treasure Christ and welcome others as He has welcomed us for God’s glory (Romans 15:7). As a church body we are “devoted to teaching and fellowship” (Acts 2:42a), wanting to be a place of prayer and care (v. 42b-47), truth and love (Ephesians 4:15). We are a reforming and transforming congregation, we trust, conforming more to the image of Christ, for the good of our families, and the nations. Pastor Phil Layton earned his Doctorate in Ministry in Expository Preaching from The Master’s Seminary in 2022 ans has served as pastor at GCBC since 2006. He is committed to expository preaching, the sufficiency of Scripture for ministry and all of life, the doctrines of grace, spreading a passion for a high view of God and His Word, and pursuing a ministry that is Scripture-saturated, Christ-centered, God-glorifying, and Spirit-sensitive.
